Define and explain water conservation?

Chemistry... can you help me explain to a friend why I have decided to study chemistry?

  • I have this friend, and after changing her career numerous times, she has no idea what she wants to do with her life. and she wants to know why i chose my career, what I like about it, what kind of jobs I can get with it, and what my dream job is (if related to my major), etc. My problem is I can't truly define what chemistry is(to make it seem interesting), and why I chose it. And how to make it seem motivational, it has become for me. So I have decided to list my motivations in what helped me decide (just in time) what to study in college. 1. My first motivation was CSI:LV (then CSI: Miami & CSI: NY became my strongest support) - 2 weeks after I had graduated high school ( 2007), I had a jaw surgery, I had it so late because surgeons wanted to wait until I stopped growing, my lower jaw was growing faster than my upper jaw.. anyways, i started watching CSI, and i liked how they had uses science to help solve crimes. 2. my second motivation is taking a college course "Intro to chemistry" -the two majr experiments that really got me interested, was one with water, alcohol & acetone and how acetone dried first then alcohol, and water last ( the chemical compounds: Acetone (dipole-dipole), for alcohol ( dipole-dipole)(for alcohole it had more elements thats why it took longer), and water used ( hydrogen bonds). -the second experiment was for the final( we had to write a lab report on it)....it included water, clay, and candles, and a beaker... we poured 2-4 cm of water in a dissecting tray. we put the clay in the middle and stick the candles on it, then we lit them. after liting the candles we covered it with the beaker, the fire went out and the beaker filled with water. ( that really amazed me!). so can you help me explain whateverybody likes about it, what kind of jobs I can get with it?

Listen man, some people are hopeless. I also have a friend who switched careers like 7 times, she completed 2 degrees while at it but still she has no place and is working on a third one. Personally i don't think ANYONE chooses chemistry because its their dream job or whatever, most do because they see the potential in chemistry and all the things one can do, that is if one you get lucky, two you work hard, and not necessarily but helpful if you're close to genius. I never in my life thought i was gonna go into chemistry, until college when i was a lost sheep and also had no clue on what to do. I took chem intro, and first and second year and still didn't think that was it, but then i took an environmental chemistry course and also a geology course, and then i realized that chemistry was totally for me, and i started wondering the things that chemists have accomplished, so i decided to go for it. With a chemistry degree you can get a job pretty much at any factory, because they all need quality and control testings, eg) soft drink plants, plastics, foundries, lumber mills, chemical making plants, water treatment plants, oil refineries, etc, etc, etc. Of course with a chemistry degree you will get the more repetitive jobs, which is fine. Using the chem degree to become a doctor is fine because you can land on it in case you don't make it (MBB is harder to get a job), but you will need to work harder because almost no classes will overlap with the pre-med courses, you will need to take a few MMB's plus a couple biologies. I think only first year and organic 1,2,3 you can use toward pre-med, and of course the chem courses as electives (but good luck keeping the GPA if you'll use chem as elective). Don't tell your friend to go into chemistry because you're into it, eventually your friend has to find her own way.
