You can always ask your Chemistry teacher where you can buy some. I'm sure he/she'll buy some for you as long as both of you hush and let nobody know (especially the principal).

liquid nitrogen is highly dangerous, and can only be kept in a speacil container that costs almost 1000 dollars or else the rapid vaporization of nitrogen will release enough energy to cause an explosion. short answer: get another project

I doubt if your school will allow it. It is very dangerous.

You may not be able to get any but your advisor may be able to. Bear in mind that 1 cup of liquid N2 that is boiling will displace enough air in a car to reduce the oxygen to the point to where the driver will fall asleep. The dewar people talk about is the preferred method of transporting. When handling N2, eye protection is a must as one drop splashing in your eye will damage the cornea. The cute trick that researchers show by handling it in the palm if their hands is also dangerous. One hesitation and there will be a spot that is frostbitten. I watched my boss do a stupid demo and was rewarded with seeing his visitor get a frostbitten track down his leg. As the dept. safety officer I would have liked to laugh but I bit my tongue. I have also seen people put liquid N2 into their mouth and spit it out like a flame eater. One hickup and they would have frozen their vocal cords. In short, liquid N2 is extreamly dangerous to the unprotected and uneducated. People who use it every day are sometimes very cavaleer about it. The transporting of liquid N2 also has to be done with a DOT permit to fill all insurance requirements. Your science project may need to be changed. If you can get someone to buy and transport it with the proper equipment, bear in mind that it is about $3-4 per liter. NOT CHEAP!
