How to find molecular mass?

How do I find the molecular mass of LiBr?

  • okay I think g/mol is the mass that's on the periodic table and if that's true then I have 86.84g/mol in LiBr. This question I have says "Find the molecular mass in u" so if I add the masses of Li and Br on the table I get 86.84, is all I need to do to get that into molecular mass divide by 6.02*10^23?

  • Answer:

First of all, LiBr does not form molecules. Second, you are correct in calculating the molar mass (g/mol). If you use the same number (86.84) that is the number of atomic mass units/formula unit. Atomic mass units are symbolized by amu or u and are the same as Daltons (Da)
