Is World Vision a scam?

Do eye glasses distort the world or do they provide a perfect accurate vision of the world?

  • As a geography student, I know that maps distort the world (ie. a map that keeps accurate shapes of land masses may invovle distortion in the relative sizes). When I hold a magnifying glass over a book, the words on the side of the glass appear skewed. Do eye glasses distort the vision of the world in a way (not just in the sense of correcting our vision, but as in shape, detail, relative sizes, etc.) or do they give us an accurate vision of the world (as someone whom has 20/20 vision)?

  • Answer:

Eye glasses do change the size of what we see and they also distort things as we look through different parts of them. Contacts are a little more consistant as they follow the eyes. They also bottleneck our brain speed and fuction making it harder for our brain to give us the big picture accurately and filter out internals like floaters and our blind spot. Because of this distortion glasses and the incorrect vision habits they encourage tend to give us flat less 3D picture that is less intense.

I've noticed that when I put on my glasses, objects seem slightly farther away and smaller... My visions comes close to 20/20 with them (Prescription slightly out of date), so I can see better... but there is a definitive change in size for me.... it's an accurate vision of the world... just slightly altered it seems.
