How do I calculate bond energies?

How to do this bond energy question?

  • Use average bond energies to calculate the energy released when 1 mole of ethylene gas (ethene, C2H4) reacts completely with O2(g) to form all gaseous products. No idea what to do here someone please help

  • Answer:

search for the rules of hess's law cycle you need to know the bond enthalpys of co2 and h2o for example if co2 = -178kjmol-1 then because you have two carbon atoms you need to make 2 carbon dioxide by reacting them with oxygeon( oxygeon is unlimited in combustion) so it would be 2 x -178 kjmol-1 because you will have 2co2 (C2!!!!!H4) and Hydrogeon will react with water to form 2H20 so if H20= -134 then you need to work out 2 x -134kjmol-1 and add that to the result of carbon dioxide. very confusing i know and i have probably either interpreted this question wrongly or confused you even more XD
