Herniated disc in cervical?

Could a herniated disc degenerate 100% in 2yrs.if not diagnosed/?

  • i suffered a back injury 2 yrs ago.dr said xray looks ok must have pulled a muscle.no improvement at all,but increasingly worsened toextent of 100%degeneration of disc between L5&S1 in lumbar spine.original xray 2yrs ago was only from the back view &shows left &right sides of this disc.disc was present 2yrs ago.(i recently learned of this degeneration&did some research).everything seems to point to possible herniated disc 2yrs ago.if disc was in fact herniated, could it degenerate 100% in 2yrs time?

  • Answer:

Yes it can. Since it does not seem that it was treated, the damage to the disc was increased through continued movement and lifting (if you did any lifting). Left untreated it is possible that the disc degenerated over 2 years. 2 years is a long time to walk around with a ruptured disk in your lumbar region.

two years is plenty of time for the disc to desicate.your original test an x-ray will not show a herniation

I would think it could degenerate in two years whether it was diagnosed or not. Treatment would have made the difference, whether it be physical therapy or surgery.
