Who Runs The World?

As the amount of oil in the world runs out, who holds the power? And why?

  • Hey i was just wondering who would still hold power of oil if it runs out...? Need Help! Thank You(:

  • Answer:

Currently, military planes and tanks run on oil, so that answer might be too simplistic. Oil is used to produce electricity and gas for motor vehicles. So we'd need a substitute for both. For electricity: Germany and Scandinavian countries are pretty far ahead on clean energies, France gets most of its electricity from nuclear power plants, and China and India have the manpower to catch up with anyone. For cars, planes &c: Brazil has the largest fleet of electric cars (you still need to produce electricity but you can get around oil for that). Horses are cool too :) All in all, I'd say: the country, or countries, that will adapt fastest to new sources of energy.

America, of course

capone

The top 10 oil companies in the world by reserves are all state-owned. American companies, even though they have the largest market capitalizations, actually don't own that much oil. ExxonMobil, ChevronTexaco and other large American oil-and-gas companies mostly extract their oil abroad. So the answer to your question of who will hold the power is: RosNeft, Gazprom, Petrobras, ARAMCO, SinoPec, and PDVSA.
