Ur, Mesopotamia, Babylon are proper names for the land in question in an ancient context. "Iraq" is a modern artificial political entity created by British Petroleum, which happens to be in the same area. The population of Iraq is mostly of Arab stock (like the rest of middle east) going back to the Arab conquests following the founding of Islam. Babylonians, Mesopotamians are long lost to the pages of history.
