THANKSGIVING TRIVIA QUIZ?

I need help with a trivia quiz.?

  • I'm setting a 'pub style' trivia quiz for a special event, does anyone have any fun ideas for rounds, that I can use? Anything you've done before that you found fun or interesting?

  • Answer:

I've been writing and presenting them for over 11 years now. I do a General knowledge round to start, also a sports round and entertainment of TV, film and music questions. I also have a speed round called Tempus Fugit (time flies), I give them 3 minutes to find ten answers to a questions for instance, name 10 famous detectives, 10 animals in the Chinese zodiac etc. I also put together a music tape of 10 bits of songs and ask them to guess the artist. and I finish off with a faces round. 20 pictures of famous people. Each week I have a guest round which is something different week to week. Last night it was Initial Success where they get the initial letters to the answer and I give them a clue. For instance the clue is Dr Rowan Williams and the letters are TAOC. the answer being The Archbishop of Canterbury. Who Am I?: teams get 5 clues to a famous person but they are only allowed one guess. If they get it on the first clue they get 10 pts, second 9 and so on to 6pts for the last clue. they have to decide whether to gamble and get the pts or leave it for another clue because if they guess wrong at anytime they only get 5 points. True or False: 10 statements that require only a true or False answer. you can have a lot of fun with that. putting in obviously false but funny statements to get a laugh. Connections: 9 questions with a clue in either the question or answer to no10, the connection. I did one a few months ago where the clues were violin, spyglass, deerstalker etc all leading to Sherlock Holmes as the connection. I hope this helps, feel free to email me from my profile and I'll send you some examples.

One of the best ones I've been a part of was one on comic strips. Just stay away from trivia about your state everyone hates that (especially in DC where everyone is from a different state)

This might not work but do you recall "The Two Ronnies" doing a "Mastermind" sketch where the specialised subject was to give the answer to the question before last. Maybe you can google it to get the correct details. Or maybe do a tasks round. Each team elects one person to do the task and it could be things like "Bite an inch off a leg." It isn't as painful as it sounds. It means that the person makes a biting motion approximatly an inch away from a chair leg. The first team to figure it out should get a bonus question for an additional point. There is a quiz show on BBC 1 called "A Question of Sport" as well as general sports trivia they also have other games rounds which might be useful to you. Good luck and have fun.
