Job outlook for a paralegal?

What is the job outlook for petroleum engineers?

  • I've come to a crossroads in furthering my education, my generals are all completed, I just need to make an educated decision on my major. I have two interests, Computer Science and Petroleum Engineering. I know the job outlook for computers is on its way up (as it has been for some time), I'm just unsure of what the outlook is like for petroleum engineers. I live in MN and would more than likely have to attend an out of state college to complete a degree in PE...does anyone know of schools that offer good programs while keeping the costs a bit lower (I'm on my own and am not rich). Additional Info: Parents live in Georgia and I have the option to move in with them if I pursue petroleum engineering at a southern school such as LSU...does anyone know if LSU offers reciprocity prices for GA residents?

  • Answer:

Petrolium engineering is a subcategory of chemical engineering, which is a good field if you're looking for money. Since the world is moving towards more renewable types of energy, petrolium is eventually going to be phased out. They're moving towards solar and wind and bigger and better energy storage elements (batteries), so I wouldn't necessarily go into chem engineering for the petrolium aspect so much as newer technologies in energy. I recommend computer science mostly because my major is closely related (electrical engineering). You might want to consider that one too. It's a lot of fun working with all of the eleectronic equipment and figuring out how to make development boards work the way you want them to.
