Civil Engineering math?

What types of math and physics classes do you take if you are going into the civil engineering/structural...?

• I plan on going to college for either civil or structural engineering. What types of math and physics classes will I be taking? I plan on getting my masters and bachelors at Cleveland State. I heard that calculus is really hard. While I do get mostly B's, with a few A's here and there in my high school math classes. (algebra, functions, statistics, trig and geometry) I am just afraid that I might completely bomb calculus in college. How hard is it? Is there like a way you can study for it? Or is it you either get it or you don't. And what types of physics will I be taking? Im in general high school physics now and I have a B for the first semester. Again, im just scared that college physics is going to be really really hard.

  Ah, yes. Mathematics. You just can't get an engineering degree without getting through math and physics (which requires math). Generally you will take three Calculus courses, one each semester. Then you'll take Differential Equations. You will take two Physics courses, again, one each semester. Like ALL collage courses, calculus requires going to class, asking questions when you're confused and studying. Unless of course, you're part of Mensa. But fear not, like you're finding out in high school, you started a course not really knowing anything about it, but came out of it knowing a lot. It just takes work. Don't hide in a corner, don't not ask questions, don't not use the tutoring staff, don't not go see your professor. You're going to be paying good money for an education, so demand to have access to all the college's resources to help you get through. Breathe. College physics is similar to high school physics, but you have to learn basic Calculus to perform some of the computations. Physics is just the study of forces on object. Dynamics is where things get really fun. Good luck and remember the engineer's motto: "weekdays are for studying; weekends are for studying twice as hard." Get through and you'll have better job security than that BS major.
