What exactly does a computer engineer do?

Can someone tell me what a computer engineer does? What classes I can take that will help me when I move on to a four-year college, and what the average starting salary is? Thank you!

The starting salary after a BS is pretty varied, and should be around 40K USD a year i guess at an average.. Math, physics and basic computer science will help you out. Also learn as many programming languages as you can like C, C++, Java, HTML, etc etc.. if you really want to be way ahead for college. But mainly make sure you understand logic and math.. thats most important. A computer engineer can work on computer hardware or software (basically) .. hardware's like peripheral devices, circuits, etc etc.. software is like artificial intelligence, programming, web designing.. stuff like that.. its a really huge and myriad field :)
