What's a good helmet cam?

How would I go about making a helmet cam with a HUD?

• I'm trying to bring together a design for helmet cam much like that of the Iron Man concept with a Heads Up Display that can be seen on a screen on the inside of the facemask of the helmet. The idea is to be that the only way to see out the helmet is through the webcam. Any ideas on how to go about creating such an item and how to program the camera to do these functions?

  you probably want to put a lens over the screen so the you can focus on it more easily with it that close to your eyes. Probably re-focus it to infinity as that will be more natural. Don't try driving/cycling etc. with that - the field of view is too restricted, and the resolution even with HD doesn't match normal vision (OK, the military do, but they're in armored cars on a battlefield, not on the street with innocent bystanders)
