Should I become an engineer? If yes, then what kind of?
-
I thought I can become an engineer but it's a hell of a thing to do! Physics and calculus scare me. Maybe I can improve my maths but will it help me to become an engineer. I thought of becoming an engineer only because I LOVE chemistry. But now I doubt if only chemistry is gonna make me an engineer or not.I thought of becoming a Chemical Engineer as I love chemistry but will I be able to cope up with all the maths n physics kinda stuff? If I wouldn't be able to then what should I become? I don't even know all the career options I have! BTW I hate biology, I can handle maths (but I am not confident when it comes to big calculations), maybe i can handle physics......any other career options? Please I'm really panicing! I'm in class 10 and I don't even know what subjects to choose for higher studies!!!!!

Answer:
All engineering requires advanced math. If you have always been an A-student in math, you'll get through it even if you have to work a bit. If you don't like math or have problems pulling a B in math subjects, engineering of any kind may be a problem yet still not unadvised. There are many positions in the industries that prefer or require an engineering degree yet the day-to-day job isn't really engineering, such as application engineering. If you like chemistry and can handle the math (even though it requires serious effort), I say go for it. BTW, it IS sexist but true that girls in engineering often get a little edge in the industry for being unusual.

it's a good question. It's depend on you in which sector you wan to do engineering because there is IT sector if your interest is in computer then go for software engineering otherwise chemical engineering is good for you. And after reading your question it seems that u have more interest in chemistry so definitely go for chemical engineering. www.funongs.com

I say when you get into a good college, you will take diverse engineering classes. That will give you a taste of which will fit you. I think focus on the basic math skills.

Well, critical point of your life of-course ! I guess if you are more interested in chemistry and stuff, then go for chemical engineering. Don't worry about jobs and stuff. Chemistry is really an open field ! BTW i recently took admission in Electrical Engineering. i also used to love chemistry but when i came in college, physics seemed better. Specially Physics related to Electricity and Nuclear. I just got so much into physics ( even my problem in maths is similar to yours ) that i chose electrical engineering. So maybe you will find advance physics interesting too. And if you don't want to leave either of them ( physics and chemistry) then go for nuclear engineering :D
