What kind of jobs are there in engineering?

What kind of jobs can Chemical or Chemical engineering majors provide?

  • What are the list of jobs that person, having a Chemical or Chemical engineering major can find?

  • Answer:

First it should be noted that Chemical engineers & Chemist do different things. Generally Chemists do lab work (aka Beaker Chemistry). This involves trying to make new chemicals or break things down or even purify solutions ect.. A Chemical Engineer's work is more about 'processes' and involves creating the whole system for making chemicals or what ever (The production line). Often trying to optimize a process and make use of/reduce waste ect. Chemical Engineers usually make much more money as well. ( A masters in Chemical Engineering has the highest starting salary of any engineer, 73,000) Although, while enrolled in a advanced engineering program most of the time you will be doing 'beaker chemistry'. I received my undergraduate degree in Chemistry and now am working on a masters in Chemical Engineering. Hope it helps

A job for a person with the major but not yet degreed? You can likely find positions as a lab technician, as a summer intern in pharma, or a field tech in an environmental firm. If you are talking about after completing an undergrad/grad degree, you have the whole field to delve into - you can get into manufacturing management, plastics/fiber research, pharmaceuticals, environmental - you name it.
