Can I take a biotechnology minor with an Electrical Engineering major?

Biotechnology to Mechanical Engineering?

  • Im studying Biotechnology under the BTech program at McMaster University. Im in my third year. I've been wanting to switch out of this program for a year now. Reasons include: 1. it's a new program and very disorganized. I find most of the classes very boring. The only class if found interesting this semester was Chemical Engineering. 2. for co-op positions, we are competing against the engineering and computer science students. since BTech is an interdisciplinary program, students from both engineering and comp science are more qualified than us for any of the jobs advertised. Again, student from life science and health science are more qualified than us when it comes to pharmaceutical jobs (only 5 out of 35 people have secured a 8 month co-op placement by december 15) So after a decent of online research i've found Mechanical Engineering to be a promising field. I dont have the marks to get into U of T. That's why im choosing Ryerson. my career goal is to complete BEng > job experience > MBA > job in engineering management. Now, the questions are: Would it be reasonable to switch programs at the age of 21? Are engineering students facing the same problem? What about BTech students from other universities? Are they struggling the same way? I take take all the blame for putting myself in this position. I really stressed out and dont see a stable carrer infront of me. all advices are appreciated. Thank you
