What is the scope of m tech in electronics?

Which branch should I choose Computer Science or Electronics?

  • I am getting NIT Raipur for both the Branches. From the internet blogs that I've read I feel as if Computer Science is the branch for me, I have always had interest in computers, I am good at mathematics and logic, but in one blog I read that Electronics and Telecom. has got a lot of scope in India. What branch should I choose? for B. Tech. By the way I am interested in working as a Researcher.

    It's really up to you. Both fields of studies are really connected. Both are built on logic. The only big difference is that Electronics involves more practical work. Moreover, communication and electrical energy are also not taught explicitly in Computer Science. On the other hand, software engineering and discrete Mathematics are not taught fundamentally in Electronics. I am a second year Electrical Engineering student from National University of Singapore. I can only say that Electronics involves more hands-on work than Computer Science. There are also research related jobs in Electronics engineering. In order to help you make up your mind, I can advise you to attend some talks or seminars and slowly make up your mind. Best wishes, John.

If you are good in logic then you should definitely choose computer science. And you have your interest in computers too, then why are you looking for an another field. If you do your b.tech in computers then this will be good for the research purpose also. Even in electronics field if someone do a research in future, he must have computer knowledge. Computers is a field with great interest in which you can show your talent

To my knowledge, CS is much like recreating for automation, rather than research. It aids in some research. If you are good at logic CS will be very interesting and easy. Taking electronics gives you more scope to enter field of research, but the subject involves dry things(for me) current, resistances etc. It is such a branch that something like "Evergreen". If you think the subjects involved in electronics can fascinate you, choose it. Work hard. All the best!

Both branches are equally good. In CS mainly on computer programming,Software ,Hardware etc. So you need to work only this area alone where as in Electronic field other area like communication etc are also there. So wide chance for a Electronic and Communication students.

Computer science's better because as you are interested in research you can get into it for studing robotronics etc.
