What industry should I pursue as a chemical engineer?

Mechanical Engineer or Dentist?

• I am currently enrolled in a community college and I plan on transferring to Berkeley. It is time for me to decisively choose a major, and I would like some guidance. I'm thinking of either becoming a mechanical engineer or a dentist. I'm trying to decide between a mechanical engineering major, or if I choose to be a dentist, I would try to transfer as a business major to Berkeley while taking dental school prerequisite classes on the side. As a mechanical engineer I would want to pursue a career in the automotive industry, as cars have always been of great interest to me throughout my life. Dentistry also seems quite interesting, and it seems a lot more recession-proof as many dentists are still doing very well during this recession as opposed to many engineers who are being laid off. Any thoughts or opinions to help me decide would be greatly appreciated :)

  For MechEng, ChemEng and ElecEng the future should remain bright.........there is always a forecast of national shortages in these disciplines. I don't know much about dentistry..............around here (Dallas, Texas) they are a dime a dozen, and the advertising seems to be increasingly frantic..................if the trend of higher personal payments to health needs continues, there may be a reduction in dental work. continue to sniff around.........you can't spend too much time in planning your life career.
