Answer:
Yes it is possible. I am an Industrial Engineer. Graduated last May. My first job offer out of college was a position as a Civil Engineer. I declined and took another offer more related to IE. You should have already took many of the classes below: Statics, Dynamics, Mechanics of Materials, Material Science, Physics 1 and 2 (Electromagnetism) Calc, Differential Equations, Matrices, Chemistry 1 and 2 with labs, Engineering Design (CAD), general electives, Maybe Thermodynamics or an Electrical Engineering course. My IE degree required 6 additional credits from other engineering fields so I went with Thermo and another class. The first year of IE involves lots of math and even computer work in SolidWorks, MS Access and VBA, Minitab, and possibly Lindo. The 2nd year of IE will involve more concept than math. More hands on work and more writing reports. 1 simulation class using a computer program such as Rockwell Arena. Senior Design Project. Manufacturing class. Solidification and Casting Class, Project Management, etc. It is not going to be easy at all. Study hard. Make sure you don't have a TV or video game console in your room or apartment and say goodbye to your friends until you finish the degree. You will need to focus since you are missing lots of the knowledge from basic IE courses.
