I have 150 kva generator for 80 Kw load,( 75 kw compressor+5 kw misc load). The generator is OK or otherwise?
-
THE COMPRESSOR TAKES 250 Amps FOR 5 SECONDS AT START AND THEN 120 Amps RUNNING LOAD
-
Answer:
you need to look at the surge rating for the generator and see if it will support the load. i am guessing it will.

The generator rating may be all right. You will however. need a time delay timer for approximately 5 minutes for your compressor motor to re-start in case of power failure. This way, compressor pressure may drop down.

The generator will probably be ok, but can whatever is driving the generator handle the overload during start up of the compressor.
