If i earn an associates degree in Electrical/electronic engineering technology: How much do they make an hour? after two years? How is the workload? is it stressful? Should i continue to major in accounting instead?

Answer:
Well, let's see. I couldn't answer about salary for I live in Argentina and not in the States, but concerning the workload and the stress: It really depends on your personality. In my case I'm a bit obsessive so even though my boss doen't put pressure on me, when I have a difficult problem I just can't take my mind off it. So in that way, it may be stressful. But once I come up with a solution I feel so good that it really tops my "concerning" phase. In my case I work in 4 main areas: Project definition, circuit and PCB design, embeded programming, and testing and debugging. After all that's concluded I have to generate the proper information so the production guys can manufacture. Maybe if you work in a bigger company you'll be devoted to only one or two of this areas. In my opinion the project definition is one of the most exciting phases because you haven't yet discovered all the problems, so you are still really happy. An contrary, testing and debugging is a stressful phase every project has to overcome to finish the development cycle. I hope this helped you and if you want further information or advice contact me ;)

I have a 2 year degree in EET. I have been in the field for over 20 years. I do work of a 4 year degree person without the pay plus maintenance. Less chance for advancement without the 4 year plus degree. I do enjoy electronics but if had to do it again I would stay away from manufacturing type jobs in the US. Outsourcing is causing them to diminish and keeping wages down. Go into something medical. There are 2 year programs in the medical field.

The best money I have seen for an associates degree is in manufacturing plant electronics maintenance. You can make $16-$35/hr +bennies depending on where you work. It's no more stressful than anything else. Lots of overtime available if you want it at 1.5 times the pay.

You can earn a good living if you use it to start your own business. Getting your FCC engineer's license is a big plus with an A.A.S.
