Is there any free Equation Editor Control?

How do you enter Complex Numbers in Polar Coordinates in the Equation Editor of an HP49g+?

  • If I try to enter the complex number in polar coords as I would in the stack, I get a multiplication symbol when I try to get the angle symbol (Alpha, [Red Right Arrow] 6). When I have the calculator set to Cylindric coords, it still interprets (X,Y) as (Real,Imaginary); what I would like is (X,<theta). How do I enter Complex Numbers in Polar Coordinates in the Equation Editor without converting them first into Rectangular Coords?

My 50g does the same thing... You might want to try asking at the HP support forum: http://forums1.itrc.hp.com/service/forums/bizsupport/categoryhome.do?categoryId=408 Or you could try calling 1-800-HPINVENT (1-800-474-6836) -- it's a 24 hour help line. They ask for some personal information, but they are very helpful after that in my experience. If you aren't in the United States, you can find your support number on this page: http://welcome.hp.com/country/us/en/wwcontact_us.html

Hey Man, you actualy answered my question of how to get the stupid angle sign. Thanks Let's say you want to add two polar vectors, Hypotenuse of 10 at 30 degrees and Hypotenuse 5 at 15 degrees. I use reverse polish, so I am going to do it that way, I think it will be the same though. Click the Left arrow key and the the multiplication key. This should give you a set of square brackets. Type 10, Alpha, Right Key, 6, and then the angle of 30. I think if you are using Algabraic mode, then you would go a head and press add, and then do the same for the 5, 15 degree one. Make sure your calcultor is in Cylinder mode, or in the polar mode. If this didn't hit it, Email me at [email protected], you can be my new HP49G+ nerd buddy.
