Answer:
Generally they have classes that are specialized in that field. These engineers are closely relate to each other: Chemical Engineering Biochemical Engineering Environmental Engineering Industrial/Manufacture Engineering The root for this engineering branch is chemical engineering. With that said, chemical engineer are very very generalized in term of your classes, a little of everything but with stronger emphasis chemistry. Biochemical engineer are slightly differ than chemical by having more classes dealing with enzyme, bacterial, biology chemical reactions. (combination of chemical engineering with biology) Environmental engineers generally deal with air or water specifically. (combination of chemical engineering with civil engineering) Industrial/Manufacture engineers makes everything more efficient or reduce cost of products. They deal with manufacture operation, planning, system, quality, etc... (combination of engineering with business). Civil engineering, electrical engineering, mechanical engineering are all very different than this branch. Civil engineers build targets (buildings, roads, etc...), mechanical engineer build the missiles (...or boxes), and electrical engineers design the missiles' guidance system. :D Anyway, if you are looking for jobs after graduate, industrial engineering is not a bad choice (any engineering is not a bad choice). Though, I would advice you to do a bit of job searching now, online, and read the job descriptions to find out what kind of things industrial/manufacture engineer do. See if this is the career path you are looking for and know what kind of internship/research you need to do before you graduate to gain the job experience.

If your school offers only Industrial Engineering, than it's probably a pretty crummy program.

the answers bob gave you are pretty good and i dont have any further explanation on them but i do have another suggestion if you are truly interested in engineering. marine engineering or marine electrical engineering. they come with a sponsorship, meaning they pay you to attend and achieve the course. the course is in the merchant navy and combines sea time and college time. you get to travel the world and have a good interesting job. if you want more information look into the following sites. clyde marine, sstg (one of the better paid sponsorships) trinity house, or carnival. if truly interested you can also apply to shell or bp etc although you need stronger qualifications the pay is amazing. with this qualification you can also work ashore and on oil/gas rigs, not just at sea if you dont like the sound of going to sea. hope this might give you a look at a different version of engineering.
