What is Electric Current?
-
In books electric current is the flow of electron in a conductor. my lecturer says thar current flow from negative to positive and some told that recombination of electron and hole is called current. which is correct? please tell me. i will wait for your answer.

Answer:
the direction of current is taken as the opposite of the direction of electrons movement, i know it might be confusing, i don't know why did they make this assumption.

Electric current means the flow of electrons from a place to another. It can be simply understood literally; Electric connotes electros and current connotes movement and flow. Thus as a whole, it means amount of electrons that move from an electric wire or any kind of conductor. You can imagine it like a water current.

Electric current means a flow of electric charge or the rate of flow of electric charge. This flowing electric charge is typically carried by moving electrons, in a conductor such as wire. i hope this is correct. this is what i've studied

the rate of flow of charge!!!!!!!!!! it is simple

Movement of electric charge carriers. In a wire, electric current is a flow of electrons that have been dislodged from atoms and is a measure of the quantity of electrical charge passing any point of the wire per unit time. Current in gases and liquids generally consists of a flow of positive ions in one direction together with a flow of negative ions in the opposite direction. Conventionally, the direction of electric current is that of the flow of the positive ions. In alternating current (AC) the motion of the charges is periodically reversed; in direct current (DC) it is not. A common unit of current is the ampere, a flow of one coulomb of charge per second, or 6.24 × 1018 electrons per second.
I think an ion stream could be a current also. For general purposes, I like the electron flow model best, even though it works out to opposite sign (electrons flow in opposite direction to the current). "Holes" is something they use for semiconductors. Maybe "a means of transferring charge, or electric potential".

well it might depend what country your in.. i think in great Britain it flows backwards. but in the united states it's a flow of electrons past a given point in a second (from positive to neg) , measured in coulombs or amps. There is also hole theory but i think that's more applicable in solid state and integrated circuit (chips and ic's) than in electricity being used for work.

currents are the backwards rate of flow of electrons. in a current, what is actually happening is that electrons are moving from lets say point A to point B. but we look at it as if there are positrons moving from point B to point A. So the value of I (current) will be the negative of the electron flow

Passing of charge from one electron to another, just like passing information from one person to another.

Go with the book, its the follow of electrons in a conductor..
