How to Do The Duckworth-Lewis Method Calculation?

How does the Key Signature Calculation Method work?

  • If you're looking at this question, you probably know what the key signature calculation method is. I won't go into detail about that. You can basically take math and calculate the amount of sharps and flats of a key signature. However, I am curious, why does that work? Why is it that by simply adding 7 to a base note, you can get the amount of sharps in the sharp of that note (i.e. C to C#). Can anyone help me?

  • Answer:

The Key Signature Calculation Method looks like more trouble than it's worth. I have found that mastering the Circle of Fifths/Circle of Fourths puts 80% of music theory in hand. At any rate: http://www.musictheory.net/lessons/25
