Where to find welding jobs in Alaska?

How to I get a Welding Inspector Job ?

  • I live in California but for the right contract job I'd be willing to temp. re-locate even to Iraq or Afghanistan. A couple of years ago I was told there were a lot of high paying welding inspectors jobs out there. I got my AWS Certified Welding Inspectors Cert and then my ICC High Strengthen Bolting and Structural Steel Cert. S1/S2. Now I can't find work any work. I previously did some welding a number of years ago but I have no experience. What should I do? Any ideas would be appreciated? In addition I was thinking about getting my MT and PT level I/II certs. Should do that or hold off ? Right now I am out of work but could barely afford it. I just don't know if its a good investment.

Personally I would make a list of companies that do nothing but welding and fabricating, an extensive list of where ever you want to work, and give them a resume, detailing your certs CWI and S1/S2, in person. I have been a welder for a while and have noticed that the industry has taken a pretty good fall in the past 2 years, but is now starting to make a good come back. A big helper to look for in a company that would need an inspector is to look for a companie that builds stacks, drop boxes/ bins, platforms, thermal oxidizers, rotary dryers, and structural work. Also anything involving aviation, chemical, gas refining, and things of that nature. Hope this helps you some! Wish you the best of luck in your hunt, don't give up.
