Is Rosetta Stone a good language learner program?

I am think about learning italian and I am thinking about using Rosetta Stone. Can anyone tell me who has used it if it is effective?

I've used it and I'm pretty indifferent. I used it over the summer to try and start learning Spanish before I started taking a spanish class. It was ok i guess. I would get it from the library before you buy it to see if you would like that kind of teaching.
