hi blue a persons accents i think is taught to them by there perents and family also depending on the part of the country they are from, i am from birmingham, and where ever i go people can always tell, the brumy accent

good question i suppose one reason is because people come up with new words, only the other day i heard a kid in my street say i ay eating that, that tay what i like.

u should be thankful u all speak english. though with different accents, u can still understand each other. here in the philippines, we have so many dialects from different provinces. and if those people do not know how to speak tagalog (our primary dialect here in manila), we are far from understanding even a single word that we say to each other

That's a good question. In the south people have different accents depending on where they live. There are people who say "tar" and they are saying "tire." There are people that say "crack" and they mean "creek." It is truly amazing and I get a good laugh at the different accents. Why we have different accents, I don't know but I'm glad that we do.

it is because there 1st language has certain pronunciations, and when you are old enough, it is difficult to change that pronunciation, so the pronunciation from their first language stays with them in the English, so some things are spoken in a different way.

well it all started long ago the English were a cowardly bunch and would only go round in gangs, all the gangs ended up having different accents as a statement to were they came from.
