How can I make my communication effective as IT professional?

How can I make communication with my deaf friend easier?

  • I am a sophomore in high and I have a deaf friend. We often text each other and when we are at school I talk to her normally and she usually signs to someone what to tell me. I find that we struggle to communicate when it is just us two. I do not know ASL and can't sign back. I want to be able to communicate with her better. Any suggestions?

  • Answer:

how about you make your on way of communicating just you to so make words you use a lot into a sort of signs.

why not learn some ASL, it could only be a resource to you in the end.

The two of you can write back and forth to each other on paper. She may be able to read lips, so if you face each other you would talk like normal, if she is comfortable speaking. Your friend probably communicates with hearing people often, so don't be afraid to ask her if there are other ways of communication that the two of you could use. Try learning a little sign language, too. Your friend will probably appreciate that you are trying to learn something new for her.

how about take paper and a pen with you so she could write down what she just signed, that way you can learn ASL. also you could write down on paper what you like to learn to sign. or just write each other notes.

I would carry around a notebook just for you guys and you can pass it back and forth.
