How do You Say Who is it? in Japanese?

• like when you are on the phone you say "mushi-mushi" [hello] then who is it? can anyone tell me how you would say it? ~thanks bye!!

  When you answer the phone you actually say, "Moshi moshi" but you were very close. :) 誰ですか? dare desuka Who is it? Or politely speaking: 失礼ですが､ Excuse me but, どちらさまですか｡ who is calling? But usually when answering a phone in Japanese, after the person who picks up says "moshi moshi" the person on the other line will usually introduce himself/herself immediately so you shouldn't really ever have to ask who it is. Person A: Moshi moshi Person B: (Last name) no otaku desuka? Person A: Hai. Person B: (Person B's name) desu. (Person they wish to speak to) ni imasu ka? (or irasshaimasuka instead of imasuka if you wish to be extra polite and use keigo) A thing to remember is at the end of a phone call, in Japanese, if it's polite, usually Person A (the person who answers the phone) will apologize (especially if the person Person B is calling for isn't there).
