Would learning all six official languages of the United Nations be beneficial in any way?
-
The six official languages of the United Nations: Arabic, Chinese, English, French, Russian and Spanish. Do most countries know at least one of the six official languages of the United Nations? I know different countries have their own different languages, but are there at least a minority that do know one of the six official languages of the United Nations? If so this would mean traveling the world would be less of a hassle, other than having to learn their culture, right? For example the United States of America. The dominate language is English but there is a number of minorities that speak Spanish forcing some Americans to learn Spanish to communicate with them. In this case if I only knew Spanish and I wanted to visit the United States I could do so with little trouble thanks to a demand for translators and Americans learning Spanish for good job opportunities or for personal reasons due to the influence of the Spanish speaking population.

Answer:
hahaha yes! it totally would be beneficial. yes, you could get by in the usa with only spanish, but only in some areas of the country, and not as well as if you spoke english, obviously. and you acquire way more vocabulary. i was playing at freerice.com today and i got almost everything right, and it's probably because i speak several languages. go learn some. we humans need to unite. haha :D x apple.

I can tell you this much: If you were to learn to speak all six of those languages fluently, no one would ever question your intellectual capacities ever again. Period. By the way, there is a name for someone who can speak six (or more) languages fluently: Hyperpolyglot. That's how awesome they are considered. Now if you'll excuse me, I must get back to my 'Dutch for Busy People'. Trying to get my grand total up to three, you know...

If you know those six, you can go most anywhere in the world and get by. I've done faily well with English, a bit of French and a bit of Spanish. I tried to learn a little of the language of the countries I visited, at least to be polite.
