A Villager's Mediation:Tamil&Sanskrit have Historical Rapport right from Ramayan,why Tamil&Hindi Have Reports?
-
A free and frank talk. Dravidian and Aryan culture and living together culture are unique in the world. They still live in harmony though some politicians make it a big issue.Individually we love one another. We even go for inter caste marriages. We have thick friends. Tamil and Sanskrit are still very harmonious. Tamils worship with Sanskrit poojas. Marriages are conducted with Sanskrit Slogas. But why Tamil and Hindi are at loggerheads. Is it not due to some perpetrated misguidance? We go abroad, settle down there, speak their language and live happily. But domestically we are adamant to learn the language where we live, where we earn. India would have been to no 1 in the world had we considered the fellow Indian's hardcore sentiments. We still fight on language issue.

Answer:
I can not agree with your statement that "it is not due to some perpetrated misguidance?" It is only due to misguidance for political gain by Thiru C N Annadurai and his group. It is definitely a great loss to all the Tamilians. Their scope is restricted badly. There should be a link language. What is a fun in having a foreign language as link language ignoring a traditional Indian language. The language fanaticism was mainly aimed at to gain power from Congress which was ruling remarkably well. So, unless the people are tempted by some burning issues like this people will not vote against Congress. So a hatered was created against Hindi and illusion was created as if Congress Government is supporting Hindi. They won in the elections; but people of TN lose their wonderful future all along.

what is language? it is an equipment used to convey one's mind/idea/opinion to others and you know man is a social animal can't live without support from other(s) Well sanskrit is an ancient language and the toughest one to learn because THE GENDER problems even for non living things like chair table in hindi is also the problem is there but in sanskrit it is complicated with neutral gender nabumsaha ling in sanskrit there are not simple as in other languages only singular plural but one more called ( orumai irumai and panmai) i learnt hindi even though it is initially hard but i learnt up to post graduate level. But in sanskrit i tried harder and harder but could not learn even at primary school level and dejected and left it even though i desperately wanted to learn it So sanskrit can not be a challenge to tamil but the politicians and selfish people take hindi as a rival language and during the anti hindi agitation in 1965 it was spread as that hindi was forced in tamilnadu and that will ruin Tamil. BUT nobody or no language can destroy the other due to rivalry that everybody knows. Both sanskrit and tamil are languages of ancient times whereas hindi is not that much ancient i suppose it is mixture urdu, sanskrit, bihari, kashmiri. dogri etc etc and the research is going on and on and on One thing I want to convey You know that anti hindi agitation was peak in 1965. and so many people north indians are of the opinion that tamils are enemies of hindi But do you know that in madras where hindi agitation was at peak one hindi film AARADHANA went on for more than 25 weeks at little anand theatre i suppose if all tamil people or majority of tamils hate hindi and treat it as enemy how can that happen so music. slogas pujas literature can not repeat cannot be narrowed down by the crooked languages restriction that is my humble reply? thanks for the opportunity given to me

I have heard that there was once an anti-Hindi agitation in Tamil Nadu. But I want to make it clear that no language eats another language. It was just a card played by the politician who takes care of their own profit from such acts. It was the older generation who still have enemity in their mind. The present generation don't minds such silly topics. @Kandasamy, mai apse sahmat hun(I agree with you).

Kandasamy touched the point well. There was no hate of Hindi per se, but an elaborate protest against its imposition as the official Govt language, organised by DMK, mainly as a political tool to subdue the formidable Congress, using a sensitive issue, played all the game! People were spell bound when DMK orators spoke of the intended domination of the north Indian leaders by imposing their mother tongue as Official language and how we would become subordinate citizens, etc! Thereupon Nehru gave a promise in parliament that Hindi would not be imposed till all agreed to it and English would continue as official language. However, the Hindi agitation that marked the political shift in Tamilnadu also gained the 'hate' of north Indians only, against Tamils. I know how the northern buddies used to taunt the Madrasis with replies in Hindi, even when they knew English! So the question is unfortunately flawed in the focus itself! The antiquity of languages etc are no reason at all. Samskrit was also not favoured by DMK who considered as the Aryan language. Their Brahmin bashing went with the condemnation of samskrit also. They insisted that temple poojas should be in Tamil and the people adopt Tamil tradition of marriage and not using samskrit. But the samskrit was state language in the past in several parts and Kings were great scholars in the ancient language. It enjoyed the same status as Greek and Latin did in Europe (using Greek and Latin being considered as mark of the learned ones!). The 'mani pravaalam' tamil of those days was just a mix of samskritised Tamil only! Telugu, Malayalam and most Dravidian languages have abundant Samskrit words and ancient Tamil literature absorbed many samskrit words, just like English absorbed many foreign words (even Tamil words like kattamaran and milagu thanni were in the English lexican) and got enriched. But Chennai and many cities of Tamilnadu have many north Indians (mainly Gujarathis, Marathis, Rajasthanis etc) who live in peace and harmony with Tamils. Our people also live in other parts of India in perfect peace. So there is no 'hate' of any kind among people, as Tamil Vs Hindiwallahs or vice versa also. Only some political decisions not to promote Hindi gave an impression like that. I am a old timer and missed Hindi due to this movement. We did participate in the language agitation in college days, just to avoid classes....! We didnt know that we would lose a useful communication with other Indians. I later found how I could converse with a 5th class passed villager in AP or Karnataka with my broken Hindi. Now people learn Hindi among the politicians who once opposed it. Hope you know this. Thanks for helping to clarify. Because many do think that Tamils are against Hindi. It is not.

Mr.Kandasamy has clearly stated every thing, with practical knowledge of the 3 languages.Every one uses to love his own property. No wonder in it.So when the govt., announced that hindi would be the national language of india we felt as if we were all pushed back to the last rows.We didn't refuse to learn hindi: but refused only to accept the feather added to it. Now.I feel it is wrong to say no language can erode the other. How? Because of english certainly almost all the languages are ignored in our country. Even in hamlets, people use words of english ''road, bus, time, super, light, ticket,' and many more and not the thamil words equvalent.Same status for all indian languages. But we need not worry for this.See. Language is mere signals of a group of people to convey the thoughts.Every group has its own. We need not feel proud that ours is the oldest and richest. What of it? Are we able to make the world understand our signals? That is important. If our signals are hard to understand, we cannot expect others to learn it. Then we have to opt the one that is mostly used in the world. It is not shame to our own signal.[so called mother tongue] For a child born in thamilnadu, but brought up by an american couple,at USA., what is its mother language? Hindi was in majority [may be now too] and to develop a uniformity by language, so that the integration of this India would be strong and sound, Nehru and co., tried to give that honour of national language. They expect atleast after 100 yrs., india would have single language, people would mingle with each other and no other force can split this land as it was in the past. But they failed to convince us,who were spell bound by the fanatism on our language.Languages, too play the role of religions, in dividing the people.

I'm not sure about others, but this is what I think. Tamil and Sanskrit are both Ancient Hindu Languages, I mean Sanskrit speakers and Tamil speakers had great connections in the past. Hindi is stereotyped to be a Muslim language brought to India after the Muslim invasions in India (I'm don't know if this true or not). Maybe it is because of the common and shared Hindu mentality and experiences in the past between Tamil and Sanskrit from Muslim invaders, is the reason why Tamil and Hindi don't get along. Hindi and Urdu are 90% of the same language, except writing format and script. The fact that Hindu and Urdu is basically the same language maybe the reason why many Indians think Hindi is an offshoot language from an earlier Muslim language brought in by invaders. Since Urdu is the language used by Muslims more than 90% of the time. Another one is the Aryan Invasion Theory. The British were very successful in brainwashing Indians to thinking that the North Indians were Aryan Nomadic Tribes who invaded India from Europe and made the so called "Dravidians", or Darker South Indian subordinate to them and brainwashing Indians into thinking the Caste system were classes of racial subdivision. Indians however, had no knowledge of skin colour, races, and anthropology in the 19th and 20th century they do now, so they obviously look at themselves and they thought this was true. This happened mainly because of skin colour, and with no knowledge back then, people had no choice but to believe the wrong misconception. Aryan Invasion Theory however, is totally false, DNA results conclude R1-A1 gene is found in North Indians and Europeans alongside with many LOW CASTE South Indian tribes and Middle Easterners. Scientists say the R1A1 in Indians however, is OLDER than in Europeans, therefore proving the fact that North Indians and South Indians descend from the same ancestor and migration took place from INDIA to Europe. Indian languages are very old, and each state and people would want to preserve it, that could be why Tamilians don't accept Hindi as we are afraid that it will be extinct in the future, something that has happened to Sanskrit. This is not something bad, Tamilians should continue to protect an ancient language but at the same time learn to recognize Hindi and respect Hindi speakers. Hindi should also recognize the Tamil language, its rich, ancient culture and antiquity, as it is the reason why Tamils reject Hindi as a first language, since the Tamil language is older and deserves a much more higher position than Hindi.
