Did William Shakespeare help make the KJV bible?

What does this quote by William Shakespeare mean?

  • "Absence from those we love is self from self - a deadly banishment." I am writing a paper on why shakespeare makes people suffer & was thinking this could be a good quote. Here is my essay question: 1) Why did Shakespeare make people suffer in his plays? What greater point about humanity is he trying to make? Why might he make that point? Again, use specific details from the play. ^please help. I don't know what to say.

  • Answer:

If you've ever totally fallen in love with someone, that person, in a sense actually becomes part of your very being and reason for living (HOW TRUE!!). Thus, if you are absent (separated from) from your beloved, it's basically the same as "banishing" a part of yourself and it makes you feel EMPTY and INCOMPLETE because of this missing part. [Just writing brings back painful memories of relationships that could never be or of loved ones gone forever! As for suffering, to any person at least half-aware, it's an inevitable part of our existential condition (living). In addition, tragedy (one main type of play that Shakespeare wrote such as Hamlet and King Lear) involves a "fall" from a higher state to a lower state (from a kind of "heaven" to a kind of "hell") and a painful recognition of something bad about ourselves or about life that we weren't aware of before, all of which causes mental anguish or suffering. MARK THESE WORDS: To be aware is to suffer.

It means that the feeling we get when we love someone becomes a part of our personality after a while, and when you are apart from that person, you are banished from a part of yourself. I think Shakespeare makes people suffer in his plays because when you are watching them, you identify with the main character and feel the same things they do, which makes the play a better experience.
