How do you interpret this quote by Jean Arp?

I need to do an essay that tells me to interpret this quote by Jean Arp: "Soon silence will have passed into legend. Man has turned his back on silence. Day after day he invents machines and devices that increase noise and distract humanity from the essence of life, contemplation, meditation." PLEASE HELP.

Answer:
I take it to mean that we have to remember the simple, yet important things in life such as love & having time alone to reflect, etc and no matter how rich and powerful a society gets with all of the new advances in technology, it can't replace these basic values.
