Walden quote meaning?

Help with meaning of quote?

  • What is your opinion on this quote? "No two persons regard the world in exactly the same way" Also I have to relate this to The Great Gatsby and either (The Glass Menagerie, The Crucible or Into the Wild) For the Great Gatsby I can say how Gatsby viewed the world about how you'll always be able to change it and relive the past and how Nick Carraway disagreed with that. Another example would be Nick against Tom and Daisy. He views them as careless people because his best friend just died and they just forgot about the whole thing and are living life normally. I think I could relate this quote to Into the Wild more? Chris McCandless regarded the world as too much and wanted out of it all. He goes to Alaska where he later died of hunger. I need another example for this For the Glass Menagerie I can say how Amanda (the mother of Laura and Tom), she is always nosy and wants people to agree with her and do what she wants. She doesn't have the power to control what other people do. Everyone has their own opinion about something and should be able to do what they want. Tom regards the world as a time in which people mind their own business. When Tom invited his friend from work over, he didn't even know he was getting married, while Amanda and Laura were busy getting everything really nice because she wants him to get in to a relationship with Laura. After he gets out of work, he just wants to escape from all of the confusion caused by Amanda, his sister and his job by going to the theaters until early morning. * Just give me your opinion of the quote. Check my examples to see if they relate to the quote. I only need to relate to The Great Gatsby and one other book. Since i found out more about the Glass Menagerie I might go with that. Let me know what you think.

  • Answer:

The quote is of people's different interpretations of reality. Reality is not scientific fact, but opinion and interpretation of meanings from events. Underlying beliefs (for example; House MD: "Everybody Lies") influence they way in which we interact with the world. This belief can be seen as being negative because it has little or no faith in the human race, but some would see the good side of it as being that if you expect the worst, you will not be disappointed. Our beliefs govern the way we perceive others and interact with them, which in turn influences the way they act with us, which can change, mutate, or reinforce the reality in which we perceive the world in. People who believe that "Everybody Is Honest" can be accused of being Utopian and seeing the world as they wish it to be, rather than as it really is, whilst others may see it as a promising version of reality which is more happy than the former persons perception of reality. Hence, two people can regard the world in vastly different ways.

This means that different people relate to the world and their own actions from a unique context and their own individual perception. Their words, behaviors, feelings, and beliefs are selected to match the specialized view of the world held by each individual. Thus, no two people perceive the world in exactly the same way. ....idk abt da book cuz i didn't read it
