What is the value of acceleration .. for the equation below?

  • I was asked this question in physics but was confused on the question when it asks what is the value of acceleration .. but in the problem it says the acceleration is constant.. If anyone can help me out that be great!! The catapult of the aircraft carrier USS Abraham Lincoln accelerates an F/A - 18 Harnet jet fighter from rest to take off speed of 173 mi/hr in a distance of 307 ft. Assume that the acceleration is constant. How much time( in seconds does it take for the plane to take off? what is the value of the acceleration of the fighter in m/s2

u have to use this formula a= final velocity minus inital velocity divided by time...i think...but first you convert the hours to sec.

104.85 feet per second per second (31.958 m/s/s) acceleration. That's 3.256 times the acceleration of gravity (G's). The answer from "Steve" is exactly correct. He seems to be a very sharp guy. I couldn't figure out the time but now with Steve's formula - I know how! .
