Do u think MADOFF MADOFF is a GENIUS? a real GENIUS?

Does genius exist in other field of science except mathematics? Why do you think so?

  • You may say about newton or einstein but remember hitting the world with some ideas does not make one a genius. It may help him to take a place in the greats but become a grate & a genius are not the same. Greatness is a thing which is achived but Genius is the astounding inborne ability inside a man. What is a genius?Let start with one of the greatests (perhaps greatest genius)mathematical genius,RAMANUJAN.Whos LIGHTNING QUICK computational ability was legendry(only gauss will come close). His ability to manipulate algebric variable is unmatched in the histroy.BUT what makes him a man from heaven is his notorious intution. At the age of10he derived the tigonometric serise from infinite serise without knowing about EULER's work.At his early teens he could tell all the prime no from 1 to 10million.BELLsaid about him"EVEN EXPERT ANALYSIST HAIL RAMANUJAN AS A GIFT FROM HEAVEN".He had discovered almost50,000 theorems old & new.It was like DRINKING WATER TO HIM. WasFeynman a genius like that?

  • Answer:

Almost all genius is categorical. Given three geniuses, one might be a genius at mathematics while another is a genius at playing a musical instrument and another may be a genius at painting, sculpting or some other art. The art genius may be inept at mathematics and the mathematics genius may not be able to draw a straight line or play any musical instruments. Mot geniuses are like anyone else in that they tend to have a favourite interest. The biggest difference is that they tend to excel at it far above average. Sometimes the word 'genius' is often used where the word 'talented' would be the better choice. Few if any people operate in more than one category at the level called genius. It also seems apparent from centuries of observation, that the quality called genius is not linked to hereditary. That is, genius parents evidently have no greater chance of having genius children than anyone else. The biggest problem with genius is that the concept is rather hazy and subject to many interpretations and definitions. The label 'genius' should not be taken too seriously because of this and the fact that many of the greatest people who ever lived were not geniuses at all. Some people are called geniuses because they can solve all sorts of abstract problems of no actual value to anyone, like Fermat's last theorem. However, in all their years of writing books and being hailed as a great genius, they never demonstrated the ability to solve a single real problem of practical consequence except in theory. Anyone can formulate theories that cannot ever be proven or propose solutions that can never be tested. IQ alone does not a genius make and it's a very poor measure of human worth on its own merits. So we shouldn't overinterpret it.

What determines a genius? The ability to create new connections between , objects, object behavior and systems The ability to think differently creating new concepts The ability to change and use alternate perspectives and choice of perception. Knowing that anything is possible Knowing that the experts may be wrong The ability to detect and recognize patterns So it's mostly about what you can do rather than what you know

It has been prevously stated that there is a fine line beween Genious and insanity. Whether its is physics or mathematics that goes over the line is something that must be determined by Psychology. Most of us know a little science & some math with out being a Genious.

Well....... Ramanujan certainly impressed Hardy and Littlewood. Ramanujan published a lot of theorems, but a lot of them were published without proof and were only later proven. Some of them have never been proven and a rather large number of them have been proven to be incorrect. But there's no doubt that he was a great mathematician. Doug

To properly define what a genius is, is to provide a historical concept of that person from the day he's/she's borned to the last day this person live. What contributions science as a whole (as you know science includes all accountable fields such as math, chemistry, biology, philosophy, psychology, theology "yes theology", literature, music, and arts) that the person contributed to society. But the question you asked about Feynman whether he is a genius or not seems too generalized. I believe he is a genius in his own right and ways. He was not one of those that was anything like einstein, but Feynman's abilities in math was somewhat similar to this Ramanujan that you're talking about. He's one of those people (I should say the one and only person on earth that can do what he does) that can do calculations of complicated and complex math problems or equations by the use of short cuts and still get correct results. To me short cuts always bring erroneous results that I'm quite sure anyone even yourself would agree. Even math professors do not recommend short cuts. To me Dr. Feynmen just make math looks easy like you say "as drinking water", but he used his mathematical ability to pursue a career in physics. People like Dr. Feynman do not contribute greatness in science to society like einstein, but his contributions as part of an A bomb developpers and educator seems less generalized of an idea but also conspicuous for us who are less talent to place Feynmen as a genius in his own right. He's also published mcuh of his works in math and physics during and after his Graduate studies. I'm sure his colleagues would agree to this statement. During an investigation of what happened to the shuttle that blew up in the sky in the late 80's, he found exactly what went wrong and why the shuttle blew up. I won't go into detail on this. It is your job to do that research on what his findings were. However, Feynmen have had many up and downs in his personal relationships. His first and foremost woman died from tuberculosis during his career in the A bomb development. I'm sure that really had a big impact on him. So yeah, I would say he is a genius in his own time. If you don't mind, can I ask you who Ramanujan is, and what contributions he's had to society as a whole? This person seems very intelligent. (I forgot to mention that Beethoven in classical music is also a genius in music in his own right, and so is Picasso the Spanish painter who resided in France also is a genius in arts in his own right). So genius comes in many forms, not just in math or science. If you think your man Ramanujan is the smartest person on earth, does he compose any musical pieces? I'm not trying to put down this man's ability, I'm just trying to make sure you see that genius as you say is brought down from heaven just as Christ is. Good enough, yes?

Having an ability that you were born with is not genius. Genius is creating new from the common known. Therefore, genius can be in many different fields but math is one that sticks out because Physics is really the only true science and there are many forms of math that adapt to explain the physics in our world. The rest are just common parlor tricks... learned or by practice.

Mathematics is like puzzle. You can keep on creating puzzles without any meaning and physical application. Mathematicians are useless for most part. Applied mathematicians and other scientists and engineers using mathematics in their scientific and engineering applications are genius. Feynman is one among them. In my little experience I have never come across any application using Ramanujan's puzzles. But Feynman's work is used widely And his books on physics is read by almost all the students
