How popular is the Superstring Theory?

  • I've been reading the book called "The Elegant Universe" and I'm fascinated with it. I'm just wondering how people take this theory?

    I do not think it's a very popular theory among laymen right now, but it's a very hot topic among many science heads! I've read that book about 4 times [my mum's gotten sick of me asking her to borrow it from the library for me], and I'm, after answering this question, off to borrow it again! Well, it's really not an easy theory to believe. It occurs in the realm of the things so tiny we'll hardly be able to delve deeper into that world. Many people just find it hard to believe. I did originally, but I gradually got my head fairly into it with that book, and began to find it really interesting. I regularly check some websites to see what's up with it. I LOVE STRING THEORY. I really do. It's so much more lovable that many of the guys in my school xD Don't give up hope on the theory! The day it's announced that it's been proven true [if it is] will be the happiest day of my life. My life ambition is to be a string theorist, really! God bless! <3

Oh my it's extremely popular! There have been tons of other alternatives offered, but nothing as comprehensive as string theory. 'Dark matter' seems to be the hot topic at the moment, unfortunately, so people kind of accept it as the fact for the time being. Great book by the way.

i love this idea, many people dont beleive it mainly because they cant belive it but i think youd agree with me that it is incredibly facinating and something that id like to look into a lot further.
