Do you think TIME TRAVEL could ever be possible?
-
Einstein theorized about time travel. He said maybe there could be some possible way to atomically bend time (into a U shape) & step over to the other side. I can't even imagine what that would be like. But then that got me to thinking; if time travel was ever discovered, wouldn't someone had already traveled into the past? Maybe the world will end before it could ever be discovered. Maybe the future government banned time travel. Maybe it was demolished. What if they've already prevented something terrible from happening to the world? I know this sounds dumb, but someone told me: What if, whenever you travel to another time, you are invisible and have no effect at all to whats going on around you? It's crazy to think about. Do you think time travel could ever be possible?

Answer:
Your invisibility/perfect observer question is interesting. The mind has the ability to observe the flow of time without interfering or tampering with events. That is one methodology humans use to smooth out the chaos flow so it does not snowball and explode. The perfect observer should be able to witness past events without acting as an intervening force, thus one's presence as observer would have no effect. If one tried to meld directly with the past one might become ensnared by it, and one's own energy would become part of the matrix, forming a parallel reality. That is, a simple human being has the ability to create time lines. This phenomenon I call a "time splash", where the arrival of a person in the past creates a new time line. Akin to the ripples a rock causes when it is thrown into a pool, a time splash would reverberate through the entire universe in which the person arrived. You could seed yourself in another reality, one which you were at least partially responsible for. How traumatic an experience this would be is unknown, and it may not be survivable without rigorous training. If a person can seed himself in another reality it raises other intriguing questions. If the place resembled our Earth, would there be people on the planet, or would it be devoid of human life? Is it necessary for a civilization to know of a person's imminent arrival so a new time line can be negotiated? Must there be an interaction of people along with the Time Splasher, who then create the time line together? Or, is it very much like future (future, because the time line is new) events on our planet? In our reality, a person is not required to know what a stranger is doing in NYC in order to negotiate a time line progression--somehow, it is negotiated without full knowledge of that person. While a universe deviod of life might be interesting at first, methinks it would get lonely rather quickly. And if the consent of an entire universe of people were required to facilitate a Time Splash, that would be problematic working with the semantics of the arrangement. I prefer to imagine it could happen, and that nobody has to directly know, and that they would be there to provide company. Here's something I have contemplated: if you were a time traveler, what would be one good way to make money? Hmm...how about taking the entire catalog of the Beatles, Rolling Stones, The Who and Led Zepplin along with you to sell in another reality? Now think about where songs come from in our reality...they appear to come from artists, and no one person has massive amounts of incredible music to sell (theoretically, you could bring billions of songs along with you to sell during your voyage to another reality). This doesn't seemed to have happened, one may conclude. However, there may be laws against doing such things, and such attempts at selling the music catalogs from other time lines or realites might incur the wrath of the Time Police or some other officious agency....

Someone has travelled into the future by 20 milliseconds, a Russian named Sergei Avdeyev, however, time travel into the past would require exotic matter. The Mathematics suggests it's possible, but theoretically, and physically are two very different things. Maybe in the next few centuries it'll be possible for Humans. However, it may be possible for a Type III Civillisation, assuming one exists in the outer depths of the multiverse.

I am traveling through time right now slowly in a forward direction. (from twitter.com) MiniFiction Weeping. Shocked. Very. "I'm sorry. It's the truth. You can't go back. You can't change the past". Disgusted. "You are your own father".

Yes. It's been mathematically proven just a few years ago. But the amount of energy and the unresolved chicken/egg questions keep it still in the science fiction realm. One day someone will figure out how to do it, though. The desire for invisibility is a voyeuristic desire you have. Last guy that tried it ended up bandaged pretty badly.

I don't believe time travel will ever be possible. The value of the length of time is dependant upon forces acting upon one another. Regardless of the direction of this force, the only change is the length this "time" has as an absolute number. Because time is an "absolute number" in mathematics it cannot be negative and cannot "flow" as we know it backwards.

To be honest, I think there is atleast a 30% chance there is. I mean, when you REALLY think about it, and how it MAY be possible, I think it really could be possible. But very rarely, it may happen. who knows? someone could be raoming the earth right now, from the future! when we hear, "oh hey im from 2399[aka future]" yu think, oh yeah right. IMPOSSIBLE. but really...just think about it. i mean its not like theres a 88% chance, not that easy, but yeah. I honestly think in reality, there is some possible way. or else, how would the topic be brought up??

The answer could only be found in the future... See, here's another situation.. what if someone from the future already did comeback to the past but could not return to his own time, and since all he talks about seems too farfetched to us, we all think he is crazy, what if Nostradamus is one of them. Timetravel is interesting though.. but we'll never know till we see it with our own eyes

According to Einstein...no. time TRAVEL is not. but he explains how LOOKING into the past may be possible

Sure why not? If its possible.. and if someone goes back in time and change the future. I believe that what ever has been done in the future and has been made.. it will remain the same even if the past was changed if they are in the past instead of the future when the "FUTURE is changed".
