Why is adiabatic process isentropic?

Im trying to find the work done in this adiabatic process?

  • i mean i think its an adiabatic process, i really hope it is or im totally lost on this stuff. okay heres the question "in a perfectly insulated container 1.0 kg of water is stirred vigorously until its temperature rises by 7 degrees celcius. how much work was done on the water?" okay now the formula for work that i have is W= (P1V1 - P2V2)/ gamma - 1 sorry i cant do the small letters anyway so it doesnt say anything about a volume change and gamma isnt given. also the first law of thermodynamics is change in potential energy of the system = Q(added to the system) - work(done on the system) and i have no idea the potential energy change any ideas on how to solve this would be appreciated as i have about 10 of these and no clue how to even start

  • Answer:

W= (P1V1 - P2V2)/ gamma - 1 = 1.0 kg of water + energy = heat Therefore the answer is "beer". I worked it out several times, and kept getting this answer.
