Colonization and Globalization?
-
Could someone please describe the differences and similarities between former european colonization and globalization?
-
Answer:
Colonization (both former and current) is the practice of one country taking over another and filling it with their people. For instance, the United States taking over the western half of North America (California etc) and assimilating the inhabitants by surrounding them with white immigrants. Globalization, on the other hand, is the spread of one society's media, culture and economics to absorb that of another society. For example, the popularity of Hollywood movies and the spread of capitalism are both examples of globalisation as these are both Western ideas adopted by outsiders.
