How and why are the wonders of the world selected?

If in your hands which three of the actual 7 Wonders of the World would you change?

  • The actual 7 Wonders were chosen by universal vote on 07-07-2007 in Lisbon Portugal. These were chosen for a especial reason, what was the reason? If you had the power to change three of the voted wonders, which would you replace, by which and why? Actual 7 Wonders of the World: Great Wall of China Christ Redeemer - Brazil Taj Mahal - India Machu Picchu - Peru Petra - Jordan Colosseum - Italy Chichen Itza - Mexico Please lets keep the criteria used when these were selected among many others. Will appreciate serious answers. Thank you.

    Without giving this subject a political view, I have read that the reason was to preserve the World's Heritage for the past 2000 years. If I could I would withdraw Christ Redeemer in Brazil, Chichen Itza in Mexico and Colosseum in Italy. Instead I would include: Angkor - Cambodia Hagia Sophia - Turkey Alhambra - Spain Would haven given an Honorary Mention to Stonehenge - England & the Pyramids of Giza - Egypt. Regards.

The reason that the universal vote was chosen was because for profit: "In 2001 an initiative was started by Swiss corporation New Open World Corporation (NOWC) to choose the New Seven Wonders of the World from a selection of 200 existing monuments for profit." I would change the Colosseum in Italy to the Pyramid in Egypt (which was a candidate), Petra to the Statue of Liberty, and Taj Mahal to Stonehenge. My opinion only

I'd replace the Christ Redeemer, Chichen Itza, and Petra with the Great Pyramid of Giza, Hagia Sophia, and the Forbidden City. The Great Pyramid of Giza (or the Eygptian pyramids in general) really should have been in there. It was one of the original seven ancient wonders, and it's still standing after over 4500 years.
