How to plot geo-data using matplotlib/python?

Does anyone know of a site or method that I can plot a course over satellite photos using long. and lat.?

I am using waypoints fron gps with long. and lat.to find something .In yahoo maps I can do so only with streets , hwys.,and addresses. It will plot course on sattelite photo.
