see my bill is showing one and we don't even have relatives, friends, nor children that could have made that call?can the previous owner of the phone number make an international call and give out that number to be billed to?

Answer:
Illegal? If I took your phone without your permission and did something with it, I guess it would be illegal, but in your situation, it doesn't matter. Are you going to catch the criminal and take him to court? Forget it. BUT, call your cell company and tell them you did not make the call and they'll take it off your bill. It they don't want to do it, tell them you'll switch to another company. They do not like to loose customers.

In theory, yes. In practice, it is not easy to correct. You can probably sweet-talk the carrier into dropping the charge claiming that it was not made by someone at your house and was not authorized by you. If there was an "previous owner" of the cell phone made the call, you need to talk with him because the bill payer should be the only person making such a decision. Since there is one call, you look like your are fortunate, but you better move FAST.

It is not illegal...however with those bills rising..are you sure your number has not been CLONED? Get in touch with the telephone company, and try to find that out first...(before you bring them to the Better Business Bureau)

No the previouse owner of the phone would not have access to dialing out from that phone since they don't have it in the first place. Each person is responsable for there phone bill ie calls made on it so its not illigal. With that said if some one is tapping into your phone and making calls that is illigal but you would have to catch them or prove it. If you have charges that you did not make on your phone you can talk to the phone company about such charges they can look into it further.

I have noticed that I get charged $15-$ 20 extra per month on my bill. I contacted Phone company and they said that those charges come from third party communications companies which your phone company will tell you that they are not responsible for. So you end up eating the cost for no known reason. These Third party companies can get your cell number off the internet if you put it out there in cyberland like for ringtones or something. But anyway wish you luck with your service provider. I've been going at it for nearly 4 months with Centurytel to no avail. I really think it's a way to make their rates cheaper by appearing to be cheaper until you start getting bills like this, then they start making the profits.
