How do I recieve sponsorship for walking the Amazon river?

  • I recently saw the British man had succeeded and walked the entire length of the Amazon. I was inspired by him; now I am dedicated to walking it too. I want to be the first female to succeed at this; generally it costs 100k to do yet this man had sponsorship. How do I find out about applying and where? Or is it a scout thing?

    How on Earth would someone walk the entire length of the Amazon. Would it not be more correct to swim it or go by canoe or other type of boat? If you want to gain sponsorship for walking the entire length of the Amazon River you must have a very good environmental goal or reason that will cause people to want to sponsor you. You should try to raise money to help the Amazon River and especially the Rainforest. Approach major companies for sponsorship as well as small business and the every day person. Set a money raising goal with the money to be used towards helping that area of the World. Big business will want to help as this will make them look very good in the eyes of the public and they also would be able to use any contributions as a tax write off. You should also approach many TV stations, especially CNN in the USA as they broadcast all over the World. There is a huge potential here for you to help the Amazon area of the World. Do your homework very well and have lots of statistics. It may take you 2 years to organize this venture but in the end i believe that it will be the best thing that you ever did in your life and also as a woman!!! Unreal!! Please go for it but make sure you have done all of your homework and believe me there will be lot. Good luck!!!

I don't think most businesses have an open application for grants to do things like this. If you really want to do this, then the first thing to do would be get some publicity behind what you plan on doing; get people behind you and supporting you. Once you get a respectable amount of support, you can start up a sponsorship program, eventually ending with a sales pitch to different buisnesses telling them why it would behoove them to financially support the first female Amazon River walker. You can also apply to the National Geographic Society, The Royal Geographic Society, and Geographical Magazine for grants. I think they're fairly selective though, so make sure they know it would be worth their while to sponsor you.
