trick question! Its NOT Everest, because there is another mountain someplace that, while not as far above seal level as Everest, happens to be much closer to the equator. And because the earth bulges some around the equator (its not a perfect sphere, its flattened slightly due to its spin) that other mountain is actually farther from the center of the earth. BUT, I can't remember which mountain it is!
