see if u mean by osmosis as it is diffusion accross Membrane..then it is b. as osmotic pressure is a colligative property(a property that depends on no. of particles i.e. the conc.)

a. the electrical charge of the ion high electrical charge create high ionic density on the atom. now diffusion takes place b/w higher density to lower.
