Help with insect that stings/bites?
-
I live in an apartment complex in central Ohio, and as I was bringing my dog inside a few bugs fell down the back of my shirt. They immediately began stinging or biting me. I ran to throw my shirt off and the bugs fell out. They looked like ants, with a stinger on the end. About the size of a regular black ant, and it had wings. It wasn't a flying ant. I had an allergic reaction to the stings and was advised to find out what kind of bug it was. Any ideas?

That is really easy! Ants and wasps are first cousins, so they look very much alike. Ants only have wings when the males are breeding, and then they are defenseless! Wasps are never defenseless! and they look like flying ants. They are very territorial, and will swarm and sting in mass to protect the nest. Some kind of wasp, and catch one, place it Alcohol, and ship it to a local University for identification
