What is permanent ecosystem?

What are the importance of autotrophs in an ecosystem?

  • what are autotrophs? what are the importance of autotrophs in an ecosystem? define grazing, detritus feeders, and decomposers, and explain their importance in ecosystem. define primary productivity and discuss its importance to the food chain. PLEASE HELP

  • Answer:

Autotrophs make their own food, so the most common example would be plants through photosynthesis. Importance: They are the start of all food chains in an ecosystem Decomposers get nutrients from decomposing dead things; when they decompose it returns minerals from the carcass back to the soil. I'm taking environmental next year and am currently in AP bio which means we don't do a lot with ecology but I know the above are right. Good Luck!! XOXO <3 ~Sadies~

Autotrophs make their own food so they are the basis of the food chain, herbivores eat them and then carnivores eat herbivores. So basicly they make their own food and everything relies on them for food.

Organisms that create their own food (plants) via photosynthesis.. they feed everything else on the food chain, directly(herbivores), indirectly(carnivores), or both(omnivores).(:
