Both necessary. The Hill reaction occurs when isolated ‘chloroplasts’ are illuminated in the presence of an electron acceptor ‘A’ (eg.DCPIP).The acceptor is reduced (to AH2) and molecular oxygen (O2) is evolved. 2 H2O + 2 A→2 AH2 + O2
